We provide technical supports for coral research and the opportunity for joint research!
the sites of coral specimens in the storage
Coral cores have been widely used for reconstructing past environmental and climatic changes with century scale and high temporal (weekly to monthly) resolution throughout tropical to subtropical sea surface, which are essential information to predict future condition in warming earth.
Underwater drilling for collecting coral core samples, however, are sometime costly and risky and also damage valuable marine creature of corals although we will make maximum effort for this damage being minimum. Preparation and geochemical analysis for long coral cores are also required a lot of time and cost.
We established coral core center in KIKAI institute and Hokkaido University for intensive and efficient progress of current and future coral screlochlonological studies and effective utilization of our coral core samples and associate data.
